Responsibilities:
- Prepares mechanical designs with minimum supervision that require calculations and coordination with other disciplines.
- Performs planning and research when the scope of work from the client is received.
- Coordinates with the client to resolve any scope-related issues.
- Checks cost estimates and material take offs prepared by the planner and estimator (s). If required, also prepares the documents personally.
- Checks product data submittals and material requisitions prepared by the planner and estimator (s). If required, also prepares these documents personally.
- Coordinates with vendors, subcontractors and Purchasing Department during estimate preparation.
- Performs manual sketches and/or drafting work in AutoCAD.
- Assists in the training of subordinate planner and estimators.
- Provides technical assistance to shop personnel during the project construction phase.
- Keeps abreast of engineering design practices and estimating techniques.
- Participates in site surveys and field measurements.
- Assumes the duties and responsibilities of the Supervisory Mechanical Engineer (SME) whenever the SME is off-island.
- Performs other duties as required.
Requirements:
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering degree (preferably licensed).
- Proficient in AutoCAD, has knowledge of Microsoft Office software, i.e., Word & Excel.
- Minimum five (5) years work experience in mechanical design, estimating and/or construction. Experienced in HVAC, plumbing, fire sprinkler/other fire suppression systems.
- Knowledgeable in providing calculations, designs, specifications, cost estimates and material take-offs.
- Has experience in building construction and/or maintenance project cost estimating.
- Knowledge of RS Means Cost Estimating System(if not, training will be provided) and other referral codes such as ANSI, ASHRAE, Plumbing Code, NFPA Fire Protection Codes,etc.
- Must be able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent command of English, both oral and written.
- Valid driver’s license and be able to obtain company driver’s license.
